Slow Food Kauai

Artist Andrew Gorton.

Artist Andrew Gorton.

I am in the process of restarting the Slow Food Kauai chapter, which is part of an international 501c3 that protects and preserves how food gets to our collective table. I thought I’d write a blog post and invite you to be a volunteer, board member, donate or sign up for a membership.
There is an initial brainstorming session and gathering scheduled for Tuesday, March 10 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Kauai Beer Company in Lihue. If you are interested in being a part of SFK, please RSVP by emailing Marta at info@tastingkauai.com.
Each year, there will be four main fundraisers as well as small workshops and gatherings in-between. We are looking for people who are passionate about promoting local food and preserving local food traditions. In all, expect to spend 5 to 10 hours a month as a board member. We will also have a sponsorship structure that includes in-kind donations such as time, and board members will get a bio on SFK’s website with a link to their website.
If you’re not familiar, here are links to Slow Food Oahu  http://www.slowfoodoahu.org/ and Slow Food USA https://www.slowfoodusa.org/
